Bilingual Program - Study Abroad

The Bilingual-Bicultural Education Program provides opportunities to study abroad and strengthen your skills in both understanding another language and culture.  Students have the opportunity to study in Taxco, Mexico and take some of the Spanish elective courses in site.

For the Summer Program in Taxco, Mexico, students will live with Mexican families in Taxco, Guerrero while attending classes in Spanish language, Spanish American culture and literature taught by professors of the Centro de Enseñanza para Extranjeros (CEPE) at the historic Hacienda del Chorrillo branch of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM).  Taxco is located just two hours from Mexico City of the highway leading to Acapulco.  This historic town had silver mines before the Spaniards arrived and is now world renown for its silver handicrafts and jewelry, picturesque mountainside locale, and the famous Baroque Church of Santa Prisca.  Through participation in this program and cultural immersion outside of the classroom, students can become acculturated to a Hispanic environment.
