Financial Aid and Student Employment
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction has three principal missions:
Preparing instructional personnel for pre-kindergarten through post-secondary schools and institutions Investigating significant educational issues Providing services which aid in improving educational practice
The first mission, preparation of instructional personnel, has two elements. They are (1) initial, pre-service preparation and, (2) continuing, in-service preparation. The former is carried on primarily in the undergraduate programs of the department and the latter in the graduate programs.
The second mission, systematic investigation and research, involves inquiry into curriculum, instruction, and teacher education; dissemination of findings through presentations and publications; and incorporation of findings into the undergraduate and graduate programs.
The third mission, providing services, has three major elements. They are (1) provision of educational institutes and programs, (2) individual and group consultations, and (3) leadership and participation in organized efforts to address educational issues.
