The Induction and Mentoring Steering Committee was formed in May 2006. The mission of the committee is to provide advisory leadership as to how Illinois State University (ISU) can continue to support its graduates in the early years of teaching and assist schools that work and partner with ISU in their support of all beginning teachers. A primary goal of the committee is to promote and develop a comprehensive scheme for supporting ISU graduates and all beginning teachers in schools that work and partner with ISU.
For the past two years, the committee has been quite active, for example, creating a conceptual framework white paper, holding the 2007 Fall Conference for Induction and Mentoring, and creating a proposed operational action plan for induction and mentoring initiatives, as we move forward to provide services in support of our graduates as beginning teachers and the schools who partner and work with us at ISU. Below, you will find six key documents that highlight those efforts.
The committee looks forward to working collaboratively with all interested parties across the ISU campus, our partner schools and other schools who work with us in Illinois.

This 2007-2008 document presents for discussion among Illinois State University (ISU) faculty, administrators, partner schools, school personnel, and other interested parties the various types of concerns and issues related to how ISU can continue to support our graduates in the early years of teaching and assist schools that partner with ISU in their support of all beginning teachers. On May 6, 2008, the steering committee met with Dean Curtis and is currently working on producing a product for a final action plan for next steps for induction and mentoring initiatives at ISU.
One May 12, 2008, the Summary Report of Participant Responses for the 2007 Fall Conference for Induction and Mentoring (pdf) was released to Dean Curtis and the IMSC.
