Lisa Hood is a research associate for the Illinois State Action for Education Leadership Project (IL-SAELP). Ms. Hood brings research and program evaluation experience at all levels of the school system across Illinois and the United States evaluating the impacts of programs in Illinois elementary and secondary schools, community colleges, and principal preparation programs in public and private universities. In addition, Ms. Hood has evaluated career and technical education programs across the nation to identify exemplary programs. Currently, Ms. Hood is conducting an assessment of mentoring programs in Illinois and their impact on novice principals’ leadership skills and school performance. Ms. Hood is completing her doctoral studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Educational Psychology with a specialization in research methodologies and program evaluation. Her dissertation is a case study of an evaluation of a new principal mentoring program addressing the issues and challenges of using program theory to guide evaluation.
