Four Illinois State University faculty members have been selected by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) to work with the IBHE, the U.S. Department of Education (DOE), and the 26 recipients of the Board's recently awarded No Child Left Behind (NCLB) School College Partnership grants.
The Illinois State faculty, part of the Center for the Study of Education Policy, will work with IBHE staff to provide technical assistance and program development for the 26 school-college partnerships on the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Improving Teacher Quality Grant Program.
As part of the initial phase of work, all 26 of the school-college partner teams will be brought to Illinois State 's Bone Center for a symposium June 3, 2005. Robert Stonehill, Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Education's Teacher Quality Program, will address the teams on USDOE expectation for NCLB.
Terry Nunn, Grant Administrator and Senior Associate Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education will present the group with state expectations for NCLB projects. The Illinois State University Education Policy Center faculty will lead symposium sessions that focus on evaluating teacher professional development, collecting and analyzing student data, and developing school/college partnerships. A second symposium involving the partners is scheduled to be hosted by the Center in October 2005.
