Manuscript Submission Guidelines

The Illinois State Education Law and Policy Journal seeks scholarly articles as well as summaries of actual situations confronting practitioners. The Journal is interested in developing a dialogue among practitioners, professors, and school law attorneys so that legal information may be shared in an effort to operationalize legal theory into practice.

When submitting manuscripts, the following guidelines should be followed:

  1. A Uniform System of Citation (Sixteenth Edition) published by the Harvard Law Review Association will be the preferred system of citation. Authors should follow the citation format presented there for footnotes and legal citations. Manuscripts submitted in another citation format will be returned for revision.
  2. Authors should submit one copy of the manuscript, typed double-spaced. After the manuscript is accepted for publication, submission of a disk or an electronic file, preferably formatted for Windows (Microsoft Word), containing the manuscript will be required. Identifying information about the author and institutional affiliation should appear on a separate cover sheet with the title of the manuscript. On subsequent pages, the title should appear as a running head on the top left side of each page. Footnotes should be formatted as endnotes.

Upon acceptance, the author will be notified as soon as possible. Corrections, if necessary, should be made on the disk or electronic file and resubmitted in final manuscript form.

Manuscripts may be submitted by either post:
