ePortfolio Fundamentals for Students
(This workshop fulfills the Gateway I requirement for teacher education.) This session provides an introduction to the ePortfolio tool, LiveText. The focus of this session is to familiarize students with the tools and functions of the ePortfolio and assessment system. In this workshop students will:
create their teacher education portfolio
learn how to share and submit for review their assignments and artifacts
review comments and assessments made to their portfolios
learn how to use the discussion board and announcements.
Take your knowledge a step further and use the ePortfolio system for all your course content and in your observation and student teaching classrooms. Begin creating an electronic Professional Development Portfolio as a compliment to your paper portfolio. Show future employers evidence of your technology skills and how you adapt and apply them in the classroom. In this workshop students will work on developing electronic professional presentation portfolios, archiving documents, and creating and managing visitor passes for viewing by potential employers. The focus of this session will be to:
Create an online filing cabinet for your students to access homework, lesson plans and resources.
Create a secure page for parents and students to access news about the classroom and share ideas and information through discussion boards.
Create and use multiple images throughout your portfolio.
Add a video teacher work sample to support knowledge, skills and dispositions.
We will also discuss using discussion boards and forms for surveys in the classroom. (Pre-requisite: ePortfolio Fundamentals for Students)
This session provides an introduction to the new generation of LiveText. The focus of this session will be on exploring the new interface and tools of LiveText. Participants will:
download the portfolio for their program
create an assignment, discussion board and announcement
learn how to add resources, references and shared documents for access by students.
Participants will be introduced to the new and much improved review and assessment process.
This session is devoted to those who want to go green! The focus will be on adding your course material, resources and assignments into the ePortfolio tool. Create:
different versions of your course
make changes on the fly
communicate with students
use the grade book to track assessments and grades for assignments in and out of ePortfolio
The improved ePortfolio tool gives more flexibility and control over submission of student work, and provides creative ways to collaborate and interact with students and faculty.

The workshop focuses entirely on reviewing, commenting and assessing student work in and out of the ePortfolio tool. The new feature cuts assessment time in half and gives faculty the flexibility of recording grades for assignments submitted outside of the PBA requirements and the portfolio. We will cover reporting and how to set up your reports for the end of the semester.
