University Research Grants

The College of Education University Research Grant (URG) Program is designed to:

  • encourage and support research in the College,
  • stimulate development and submission of external grant proposals, and
  • support development of the research agendas of pre-tenured faculty.

There are four primary types of awards offered under the University Research Grant (URG) program: Research Fellowship Awards, External Grant Awards, Small Grant Awards, and Research Travel Awards.

Dates and applications

March 3, 2008: College of Education distributes URG guidelines and application materials (pdf).
April 1, 2008: URG Research Fellowship applications (pdf) are due to departments.
April 15, 2008: Department rankings and written feedback are due to the College
May 5, 2008: College submits list of faculty awards to the University Research Office; URG recipients are announced.
September 1, 2008: URG funds available pending funding from the University.
October 1, 2009: First Professional Outcome reports for Fiscal Year 2009 funded URG projects are due to the College.
October 1, 2010: Second Professional Outcome reports for Fiscal Year 2009 funded URG projects are due to the College.
Throughout the Fall and Spring semesters: External Grant Development applications (pdf), Small Grant applications (pdf), and Research Travel Award applications may be submitted as funds are available.

New Faculty Mid-Year Research Fellowship applications, External Grant Development applications, and Small Grant applications may be submitted throughout the fall and spring semesters, pending available funds.
