Meet the Student Technology Team

When your mailbox reaches 700,000 KB, you will receive an automated message from the Exchange System Administrator. The message will look similar to the following:

Your mailbox has exceeded one or more size limits set by your administrator.
Your mailbox size is 800,102 KB.
Mailbox size limit: 700,000 KB

Depending on the amount of mail in your mailbox, you may not be able to send or receive new mail until you reduce your mailbox size.

Reduce the size of your mailbox

• Determine your mailbox size using Outlook. (Entourage users, find your mailbox size.)
• Items in all of your mailbox folders including the Deleted Items and Sent Items folders count against your size limit. Clean up your mailbox by:
  • deleting any items that you are no longer using,
  • deleting unneeded emails in your Sent Items folder,
  • deleting unneeded emails in your Drafts folder,
  • emptying your Deleted Items folder. You must empty the Deleted Items folder after deleting items or the space will not be freed.
• Archive older messages in your mailbox.
