John C. Craig, Ph.D. John Craig is Principal Assessment Consultant for Social Science with Standards and Assessment Section of the Illinois State Board of Education. He is responsible for coordinating the agency participation in the National Assessment of Educational Progress; development and administration of the Illinois Consumer Education Profeciency Test, Prairie State Achievement Examination, and the social science component of the state assessment system. He has received a distinguished service award from the Illinois Council of Social Studies, served as a consultant to the American College Testing Services, and the Council of Chief State School Officers. He is responsible for the design and development of Alternative Assessment in Social Science, and Alternative Assessment in Geography.
