The induction ceremony is a solemn affair during
which candidates and guests are given a brief history of Kappa Delta
Pi and Mu Chapter, and candidates are asked to commit themselves to
the ideals of Kappa Delta Pi. The ceremony is followed by a business
meeting at which chapter officers and committee chairpersons give
brief reports of their activities with respect to chapter business.
The 2007 Fall induction ceremony will be on Saturday, October 13, at
1:00 p.m., in Capen Auditorium (second floor of Edwards Hall), on
the ISU campus. If you meet the requirements and choose to become a
member of Mu chapter, here are some things you will need to know
about the Induction Ceremony and what precedes and follows it.
First, the ceremony is a formal affair so please dress
appropriately; shirt, tie, and jacket for men and the equivalent for
women. This is not a time for jeans, casual dress, or sneakers.
Second, for those of you not familiar with the ISU campus, Capen
Auditorium is located on the second floor of Edwards Hall. Edwards
Hall is located between Schroeder Hall (corner of College and
University), and Cook Hall (looks like a castle). The building
immediately to the south of Cook Hall is DeGarmo Hall. In Edwards
Hall, the men’s restroom is located on the first floor in the
northeast corner (behind the stairs). The women’s restroom is
located on the second floor at the west end of the main hallway. The
best place to park is in the Bone Student Center parking lot, just
to the north of the Bone Student Center.
Third, it is important that you arrive at Capen Auditorium no later
than 12:30 p.m. This is necessary because there is a form that you
must complete before you take your seat. After completing the form,
walk to the front of the auditorium and you will see that each seat
in the center section has a nametag on it. Find you seat and sit
down.
Fourth, during the ceremony there will be a time at which you will
be called to the stage to receive your certificate. At that point in
the ceremony, candidates in each row will stand, take the name tag
from their seat, and proceed to the stairs on the left. When you get
to the treasurer, give her your nametag, and please pronounce your
name for her. Then proceed across the stage, receive your
certificate, and return to your seat.
Finally, after the ceremony there will be refreshments and an
opportunity to meet one another other. It is also a good time to
meet the chapter officers.
The Kappa Delta Pi Membership Committee hopes that you will take
advantage of this unique opportunity to add to your educational
credentials and to be honored as a scholar and an outstanding
educator (or future educator). Please feel free to contact the
chapter’s president, counselor, or associate counselor if you have
further questions about membership. We look forward to having you
as a member of Kappa Delta Pi. |
