Dean Curtis invites exploration of new College of Education Web sites

(October 25, 2006) Three new Web sites have recently been launched for the College of Education under the direction of newly appointed Dean Deborah J. Curtis. The redesigned Web sites include the College of Education, the Department of Special Education, and the Autism Spectrum Institute.

The College of Education home page provides valuable and timely information on College-related news, links to events, and a rotating section featuring faculty scholarship. Information about College departments, units, and centers are provided as well as its history, current goals, and recent accomplishments.

The site is designed to facilitate information sharing with prospective and current students, faculty, and alumni. Features include a section for faculty and staff pertaining to research, grant seeking, and resources for teaching and service; information for students on scholarships, advisement, and general information about becoming a certified teacher; and a new area for alumni provides avenues to stay in touch with the College and giving opportunities.

The Department of Special Education Web site's home page also features up-to-date information on departmental news and College events. The site provides specific information related to its programs of study. Undergraduate, master's, doctoral candidates and certificate seekers may find information specific to their program and advisor contact information, as well as information related to scholarships and student organizations.

The Autism Spectrum Institute Web site provides information and resources to pre-service and practicing professionals as well as parents and families of children and youth with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Visitors can learn about the various programs used to work with children with ASD, find a book through the Lending Library or learn about an online course to further their training in working with children and adolescents with autism/Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
