Center for the Study of Educational Policy helps rural communities considering school consolidation and closure

(December 12, 2006) The Center for the Study of Educational Policy and the Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development at Illinois State University have received a half-million dollar federal grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to examine how schools act as economic engines within their communities, and how decisions are made to close schools. Through the study tools will be developed to help schools that are considering consolidation or closing see what their best options are before making any decisions.
