Reading Recovery Program at Illinois State launches new Web site

(June 19, 2007) Reading Recovery® is a research-based, internationally known program with a long and successful history of helping teachers improve the reading abilities of low-achieving first grade children through one-to-one interventions.

Since 1990 Illinois State University has been an official Reading Recovery Teacher Training Site. Each year, the site supports the implementation of Reading Recovery in 30–40 Central Illinois school districts. Since the site was established at the University, over 7,000 first-grade children have received Reading Recovery services. The program is implemented in collaboration with National-Louis University, the Illinois State Board of Education, participating Illinois school districts, and the Center for Reading and Literacy within the College of Education.
