(December 3, 2007) A new Web site is now available to help to prospective students, current teacher candidates, and beginning teachers. The Teacher Education at Illinois State University Web site encourages students to explore teacher education programs, provides information on program and degree requirements, and provides networks and support for beginning teachers. Three sections are highlighted below:
Explore our programs:Prospective students will be able to learn about the teacher education program at ISU, as well as find links to information about the campus and the application process.
Complete your degree: Currently enrolled teacher candidates will find Information on the common threads of teacher education programs which include coursework, advisor contact information, clinical experiences in area school classrooms, tests and assessments, and student teaching or the Professional Development Schools (PDS) experience.
Enhance your classroom: Beginning teachers will find information on classroom resources, professional development and continuing education opportunities.
In addition, students can use this site to find out about opportunities such as the Chicago Urban Education bus trip, application deadlines for signing up for the professional development school program, and registration for the criminal background fingerprint check program. Faculty can use this site to connect with the Council for Teacher Education, the committee responsible for developing requirements for teacher education and for providing avenues of communication among all areas of the University concerned with teacher education.
