   Sound has many different characteristics…….

Sound is invisible.

Sound travels through air, water, wood and metal.

Sound lets us know when someone or something is coming.

Sound lets us communicate with each other.

A sound is made by vibrations.

A vibration is when something moves back and forth. The sound waves can be thought of the same ways as a butterfly flapping their wings.

The air that is pushed by these sound waves pushes against our eardrums. That is how we hear sounds.

Fast vibrations make high sounds, like a the sound a dolphin makes.

Slow vibrations make low sounds, like a cow mooing.

What sounds do you hear everyday?
