            HOW ANIMALS MOVE

Helene and I are both students at Illinois State University.  We are both studying to be teachers. To learn a little more about each of us, please click on the Favorites above.  We were very excited to be able to come into Mrs. Brucker's first grade class and share a lesson on the different ways in which animals move to get from place to place.  We hope you will all enjoy it!

You can walk, run, jump, climb, and swim to get from place to place. Animals also move in a variety of ways:

Some animals SWIM: their bodies are streamlined for swimming and floating.

Some animals FLY:  their bodies have wings for flying  and hunting.

Some animals CLIMB: their bodies have strong claws or nails used for climbing.

Some animals JUMP:  their bodies have strong hind legs to help them hop and move around.

Some animals RUN:  their bodies have powerful, muscular legs help them run on land
