So where do we use all this water? For starters, flushing the toilet and taking a shower or bath are the two biggest sources of water usage in the home accounting for more than 50%. What can we do to help save water? There are easy ways we can all try to "Slow the Flow" in our homes today. Read these easy tips to discover some simple ways to Slow the Flow!

  1. Turning off turns on the savings

It's easy! Instead of leaving the tap running, turn it off when you don't need it. So, after you wet your toothbrush, just turn off the tap - and if you need to rinse, turn the tap on briefly.

  2. Get flush with savings

Every time you flush your toilet, it's like pouring 10 large soft drink bottles down the drain.

3. Spot a leak
If you see a leaky faucet, let an adult know!!  You could help save a lot of water!!

4. Make a clean start to saving loads

It's easy, and it saves loads! A single load in the washing machine uses 36 gallons of water!!  So, be sure to remind your mom or dad to wash only a full load of clothes in the washing machine or dishes in the dishwasher.

5. Use your head to save

The average shower uses 24 gallons of water. We must learn to take shorter showers or baths. When you are sudsing up your head, turn off the shower.
