Jeff and I are both seniors at Illinois
State University. We both are elementary education majors and I will be
student teaching in the northwest suburbs. Our lesson today will be on
bears. It consists of some general information, specific information, and
some fun links to look up for furthur information.
Bears have been around for 40 million
years.
Bears are the largest terrestrial carnivores
on earth.
Most male bears are larger than females.
Most bears are are herbivours.
Some species are omnivours, except
for the polar bear(carnivorous).
Bears generally live alone except when
courting or when with cubs.
Litters occur from one to four years
and yield one to four cubs.
Bears live 15 to 30 years.
Bears go through hibernation or long
sleep.
Bears can weight as little as 60kg
or as much as 800kg and grow as long as 3 meters.
Hunting species of bear hunt from downwind
to avoid being detected.
