Attend an orientation

You must attend an orientation meeting and pass a criminal background check by MCJDC prior to your first observation. Only then may you sign up to observe at MCJDC .

Orientation/rules packet

to get an orientation packet.

• Read the packet
• Fill in the information page
• Criminal background checks will be done at the site. Be sure to bring your paper work and photo id to the orientation. if you think this may be a problem.
• Do NOT sign the waiver. This must be done at the orientation.

Sign up for an observation time slot

You must attend an orientation prior to signing up for an observation time slot. There is no class list or calendar other than the time slots shown available on the online sign up system.

Use the online form to reserve your spot.

Please remember:

• You must register in order to observe classes.
• You may not register for more than 3 observations in a day.
• You may not change your schedule after Wednesday night for the next week. Read the instructions regarding cancelling or rescheduling an observation.

On the day of your observation

Read the information packet (pdf) prior to arriving at the Center.

General Guidelines

• You must wear your ISU ID tag at all times (we do not supply these)
• Dress appropriately
• Be courteous — introduce self, thank you
• If you are going to be late, phone the center at (309) 888-5550.

Directions to school and parking

• Go North on Main
• Turn left on Summit (the first road after Fairview Pool)
• Take the drive around the buildings
• Park in front of the JDC
• View the Bloomington-Normal City map (pdf)
• Learn about Bloomington-Normal public transportation
• Get driving directions to the Center.

Signing in and out
You will sign in and out of the Center on MCJDC's ISU Student Observer form and ISU's form. ISU's form will be returned to your ISU instructor at the end of the semester.
