Following are the university-wide teacher education performance based requirements

Gateway 1: Admission to Professional Studies

• Successful Experience with Children or Youth
• Reflective Essay - Initial
• Assessment of Legal and Ethical Conduct
• GPA - Cumulative (2.5 or higher if major departmental requirement)
• GPA - Major (set by major department)
• Basic Skills Test
• English 101 (Grade of C or better)
• Communications 110 (Grade of C or Better)
• Teacher Education Orientation Sessions (2 Parts)
• Instructional Technology Passport System (ITPS)
  • A. Ethics Quiz, B. On-Line Searching Quiz
• Disposition Assessment (Faculty)
• Communication Assessment (Faculty)
• TB Test (P.E. and ECE only)
• Criminal Background Check(P.E. and ECE only)
• Bloodborne Pathogens Assessment
• Department Approval

Gateway 2: Admission to Student Teaching

• Instructional Analysis for Inclusion
• Literacy Assessment
• TB Test
• Criminal Background Check
• State Content Test
• GPA - Cumulative (2.5 or higher if required by major department)
• GPA - Major (determined by major department)
  • ITPS: C. Telecommunications, D. Web Page
    • E. Presentation Software & Idea Development, F. Spreadsheets
    • G. Desktop Publishing, H. Assistive Technolog
• Disposition Assessment (Faculty)
• Communication Assessment (Faculty)
• Pre-Student Teaching Clinical Hours (100 or number established by major)
• Department Approval

Gateway 3: Exit from Student Teaching

• Final Reflective Essay
• ISU Student Teaching Assessment
• Grade (C or better)

Certification

• Order an Official Illinois State University Transcript to be sent to self
