Performance Based Assessment (PBA)

The Council for Teacher Education adopted the Teacher Education Performance-based Assessment System for implementation beginning the Fall 2002 semester to ensure that all teacher candidates possess the knowledge, skills, and dispositions required for successful teaching careers.

This assessment system establishes critical points at which all candidates for teacher certification will be assessed: admission to profession studies, admission to clinical practice (student teaching), and exit from clinical practice.

Throughout this assessment system all teacher candidates will be expected to successfully meet specific technology standards identified in the Technology Passport System.

In addition, all teacher candidates will be required to maintain an electronic portfolio with evidence of meeting the University-wide teacher education standards, specific program standards, and Illinois Professional teaching Standards.
